Google+ Review

Yet another social network. Do we really need one? I mean facebook covers my friends and what are you doing, and twitter is every little update about my friends and I. Why should I google+ interest me. Well here is why. Have you ever wish Twitter and Facebook become one? Well this is what Google+ is. Facebook and Twitter’s baby.

Pros

You get the freedom of posting whatever you want to whoever you want, Instead of followers and friends. You have this cool little thing called ‘Circles’ It is exactly what it sounds like. Circles is a group of your friends placed under categories. You can have many different ones. Create your own, delete the preset ones, whatever its all up to you. Have you ever have different group of friends and all have different interest, Such as your car enthusiast group, your gaming crew, family, co workers and so on, and wish to only send updates to your car enthusiast group so they know where to meet up or plan a gaming scrim with your buddies but not let everyone on your friends list know? Well with circles you can do just that. Send a particular update to a particular group! This sole reason why I personally think Google+ is better then facebook.

Pros

Google also have a feature called sparks. What it is, Is it a pre set RSS feed. Although you don’t get to choose which sites can be added, this can be done through reader. You have a wide selection to choose from. Sports cars to PC Gaming or gaming in general. A wide selection too. I really do like this feature. Helps me catch up on my reading and its already ‘setup’ for me. All I got to do is click and read.

Pros

Another feature I really like is who intergraded it is with other google apps, Such as Buzz, Picasa, +1′s and so on.

Pros

The layout, I can’t think of a single thing I don’t like about it. It just “Perfect”, Everything is there. Your own pictures makes a ‘wall’ like Google Images when viewing the album, Viewing your friends pictures brings up a theater like and the picture in all its glory.

 Mediocre

One downside to it is there isn’t a real ‘add a friend’. Just add anyone to your circle, Whoever this is easily fixed by circles above, You can choose who you want to send those updates to. Public as in anyone who added you to their circle and on your public profile.

Mediocre

Private conversation is somewhat buggy. You either just make it visible to that one person or you could try @(persons name) However I haven’t tried so. My friends have and they said it works half the time. I’m going to have to take their words for it.

Mediocre

Not many people have it at the time of this review(July 13th ~5am). It is however still a invite only beta so I don’t expect my parents, aunt, uncle, all my friends and so on. But however this only going to keep on growing,

Final Thoughts

After using this new (private) product from google, I have to say, I am addicted. I hope this takes over FaceBook. I am very anti FaceBook person. However keeping in touch with friends with there fast and different lifestyle now is hard and sometimes the only way is FaceBook so I’ll take a small sacrifice.  All in all this left me a very good impression of what the final product might turn out to be. So to answer our question, Yes we do need another social networking site. At least a good one.

Get two thumbs up from me!
